Ismosys rolls out pan-continental design centre network
Ismosys has rolled out a global network of independent design centres to meet the demands of new and existing customers it calls Design Services PLUS+ (DSP+). The array of design talent available from Ismosys now spans Europe where Ismosys has created a network of over 20 design centre partners, North America, and now India.
Says Nigel Watts, Managing Director of Ismosys, “The design centres mean we can work with customers through every stage of their product development process from concept through to prototyping, and if required identifying a production partner.”
“Flexibility and reach are what customers look for when they engage in the design process.”
All of Ismosys’s component suppliers will be working with the design centres.
Watts feels that his company’s initiative fills a growing requirement for design expertise.
“There are fewer field applications engineers in the distribution channel,” hen comments. “And products are becoming increasingly complex which means the depth of expertise isn’t always available.”
“DSP+ can meet those requirements and by establishing an extensive geographic reach we can forge close links between our customers and our suppliers.”
Watts anticipates opportunities across the electronic product design spectrum, from those with great ideas and scant knowledge of electronics – Watts has one of these on the go now – through entrepreneurs, makers and established companies needing design support.
The latter are served by the pan-continental DSP+ concept, because says Watts, “Where you build and where you sell has an influence on where the product is designed.”
The expansion into India has arrived with the signing of a strategic partnership with Bangalore-based design services group, EnstinLabs.
Headed by CEO Thiagarajan Venkatachatam, who founded Bell Labs in India, Enstin has a 35-strong engineering team and has particular expertise in power and storage.
Enstin Labs is a global engineering services organisation focused on “end to end” product development specialising in design services, research, innovation, technical training and talent development. Enstin has over thirty employees whose expertise span. Hardware, Firmware, Software and Verification and Test.
The agreement ushers electronic component manufacturers represented by Ismosys into the fast-growing Indian market and to gain access to end customer product designs.
Ismosys will promote the services of Enstin Labs throughout Europe and North America.
Says Watts, “This is a critical moment in the evolution of our demand creation business model. We created a Design partner programme in Europe almost ten years ago and that has developed into a network of over twenty independent design houses all of whom are contracted to Ismosys and who provide specialised design services to a variety of end customers and applications.”
He continued, “In 2018 we have expanded this capability to include North America with the formation of ISMOSYS LLC based in San Jose California and headed up by Ian Crayford, our CTO. Ian has a long and distinguished career in the semiconductor and networking markets as a designer and architect.” The result is the provision of a multi-continent design resource that provides the represented lines, design partners and end customers of Ismosys access to an unparalleled array of technologies, products, design solutions and manufacturing capabilities from concept to consumption.
Watts added, “This is a tremendously exciting and rewarding moment for us, it has taken many years and significant effort to bring this array of talent together and launch a cohesive and effective service for the global electronics industry. Our next task is to market and present the service via our teams located in Europe, India and North America to attract new customers, projects and engineering engagements. Our lines have been tremendously supportive and, as a result, we are able to offer customers very advanced levels of technical and commercial support”.
