TenAsys Announces Support for 4th Generation Intel Core processors
TenAsys announces that it has validated its key products: INtime family of Real-Time Operating System and eVM for Windows Embedded Virtualization Manager, for use on the 4th generation Intel Core processor family.
The Continuing with previous generation of Intel Core processors, this generation brings a new level of performance of floating point calculations with the introduction of the Intel Advanced Vector Extensions 2.0 instruction set. This extends the ability of replacing the need for dedicated processing hardware on designs that may have required multiple processing subsystems and consolidate these onto a single platform to reduce cost, complexity and increase system reliability and throughput.
TenAsys' real-time embedded virtualization technologies have been fully aligned with Intel's multicore strategy in supporting evolving usage models, said Kim Hartman, TenAsys' Vice President of Marketing and Sales. Our embedded virtualization technologies partition a multicore platform such that users can run mixed workloads on the same platform and make better use of Intel Core processor advanced features. This allows them to integrate multiple advanced HMI's and control applications on a single system providing customers with comprehensive, cost-reduced, integrated solutions.
The 4th generation Intel Core processor family delivers breakthrough graphics and processing enhancements that are important to the delivery of new functionality in embedded applications like industrial automation, medical imaging and digital signage, said Sam Cravatta, Product Line Manager, Intel Intelligent Systems Group. Many of these applications mix workloads featuring a Windows or Linux-based application but still require deterministic real-time support for some of the control functions.
The INtime Real-Time Operation System family runs on single-core, hyper-threaded and multicore IA PC platforms, featuring two binary compatible usage configurations; INtime for Windows where the INtime RTOS runs alongside the Microsoft Windows and INtime Distributed RTOS where INtime runs as a stand-alone RTOS.
The company's eVM for Windows VMM enables different guest operating systems to run along with Windows in the same Intel architecture system.
