Forwarding CAN data via Ethernet
CAN-based networks require special cable connections. Special adapters are also required for the purpose of integrating PCs. This can sometimes incur considerable costs. To solve this problem, Kanda is offering CAN2LAN router software for the SSV embedded devices server modules, making it possible to transfer any kind of data over TCP/IP-based Ethernet LANs in a transparent way. The CAN2LAN solution involves the interconnection of two CAN networks via an existing Ethernet LAN.
The To enable the software properties to be adapted to a specific environment, the CAN2LAN router software features a user-friendly web-based interface for browser access via an Ethernet LAN. This can be used to set the parameters and data transfer propertied of thee CAN interface. In addition, the configuration interface also makes it possible to specify the network behaviour. For example, the TCP or UDP communication protocols and the relevant port numbers can be configured.
