Echo cancellation technology ported to HiFi audio DSPs
Cadence Design Systems and Retune DSP have announced that Retune DSP’s multi-microphone beamforming and echo cancellation technology has been ported and optimised to Cadence Tensilica HiFi DSPs for Audio/Voice/Speech. Optimised DSPs such as the Tensilica HiFi DSP that are efficient, low power and high performance are well suited for voice-processing applications.
“We are truly excited to partner with Cadence to deliver the Voice Seeker beamforming and echo cancellation solution, as well as our All Ears voice suite on the Tensilica HiFi DSP. This port enables a wide range of consumers to benefit from our best-in-class solutions for voice control and communication in everyday acoustic environments,” said Ulrik Kjems, Co-founder and CEO of Retune DSP. “The computing capability of the Tensilica HiFi DSP allows us to deliver far-field voice control performance levels that exceed customer expectations, with simultaneous beamforming, echo cancellation, direction of arrival indication and integrated keyword voice triggering.”
Retune DSP is part of the growing ecosystem of Tensilica partners who have ported their software to the HiFi architecture, enabling semiconductor companies and systems OEMs to get up and running quickly. Retune DSP’s Voice Seeker and All Ears audio front ends leverage Retune DSP’s beamforming technology that supports adaptive near-field and far-field beamforming for configurations from two to nine or more microphones. This delivers improved signal-to-noise ratios and provides superior voice control performance, significantly improved speech intelligibility and much better overall user experiences. These solutions are suitable for applications that require best-in-class voice control or communication, including mobile phones, smart TVs, mobile and gaming headsets, digital assistants, robotics and automotive hands free.
Tensilica HiFi DSPs are the most widely licensed audio/voice/speech processors, with support for over 200 proven software packages and more than 80 software partners in the Tensilica Xtensions partner programme. More than 75 top-tier semiconductor companies and system OEMs have selected Tensilica HiFi DSPs for their audio, voice and speech products.
“Voice control has increased in popularity and is becoming the standard user interface in mobile devices and consumer electronics,” said Larry Przywara, Group Director of Audio/Voice IP marketing at Cadence. “Retune DSP’s adaptive near- and far-field beamforming and echo cancellation, running on the Tensilica HiFi DSP, work in concert with third-party speech recognition solutions to enable an outstanding voice-control experience in real-world settings.”
