LG Electronics Selects Uniquify’s DDR Memory Subsystems IP for Latest SoC Design
Uniquify announced today that LG Electronics selected its double data rate memory controller subsystem IP for the design of a new consumer entertainment system. LG chose Uniquify’s DDR IP with patented, adaptive technology known as Self-Calibrating Logic and Dynamic Self-Calibrating Logic to ensure product system reliability.
The According to LG, the SoC must be designed to work in many different operating environments. Because fluctuating operating temperatures and voltage can cause reliability issues, system designers must factor in operating conditions over a wide range of environmental scenarios. LG’s design using Uniquify’s SCL and DSCL DDR IP is more robust and stable than competitive products over a wider range of operating conditions.
“LG considers system reliability to be the most important design aspect of a consumer entertainment system, making it a top priority” says Mr. Dae-Hyeop Ko, research fellow at LG Electronics. “We believe using Uniquify’s patented DDR technology will be crucial in helping us achieve our goal.”
Uniquify’s DDR IP includes SCL and DSCL for real-time calibration to accommodate static, process-related variations (SCL) and dynamic (DSCL) variations in the system operating environment. SCL runs at power up to solve problems due to process variations and DSCL runs during system operation to solve problems due to dynamic variation, such as temperature changes or shifts in supply voltage
“LG Electronics is a leader in consumer electronics and we’re delighted that LG selected our IP,” adds Josh Lee, Uniquify's chief executive officer. “We are committed to developing IP that goes beyond meeting just technical specs. We are solving real problems for our IP customers by improving their products’ market competitiveness and customer satisfaction as LG Electronics is proving.”
