Cross-platform application updated for IoT market

At Embedded World 2015, which takes place from 24th to 26th February in Nuremberg, Germany, the Qt Company will showcase the extended functionality of Qt 5.4 for embedded device creation. The latest version of the company’s cross-platform application and UI development framework enables the creation of connected devices and applications with native C++ performance regardless of platform. As the IoT market grows, this allows companies to future proof their product development strategy and preserve software engineering investment.

Qt 5.4 is particularly suitable for device creation in the automotive, STB/DTV, medical and industrial industries. The platform features Qt WebEngine, a new Chromium-based browser engine which supports HTML5 hybrid development, future-proofing the integration of web technologies. The Qt Quick 2D Renderer plugin allows Qt Quick graphics to run without OpenGL, enabling operation on low-end devices without a GPU. Qt 5.4 also features the Qt Quick Compiler 2.0, which reduces device boot-up time and secures against reverse engineering.

To address the growth in the development of IoT and wearable devices, the platform if offered with a technology preview of BLE support. The Qt Creator IDE has been updated to version 3.3, which features an all-new Qt Quick Designer. Developers can use the Qt 5.4 framework for the creation of both target platforms and supported platforms. 

At Embedded World, the Qt Company will be located in hall 4, at booth 308. Tuukka Ahoniemi, Technical Product Marketing Manager, Qt Company, will be speaking in the Embedded World Conference Program on the topic: ‘Designing Cross-Platform Software for Internet of Things System’. This is scheduled to take place on 24th February at 3pm.
