Connect One today released iChip CO2144, a new addition to its iChipSEC family of M2M IP Controllers that offers complete IP connectivity and security in small form factor. CO2144’s miniature package supports multiple power-save modes and wireless LAN and all cellular standards, making it ideal for mobile devices in automotive, remote monitoring, and medical areas.
Using the CO2144, embedded developers can quickly and easily connect their embedded devices to any kind of IP network — wired or wireless. CO21244 offers a full suite of Internet protocols and applications, enabling immediate and full–featured connectivity for M2M solutions. Since CO2144 works as a coprocessor, developers do not need to program or write code that controls connectivity or application security. Instead, the logical interface between the host application and CO2144 is Connect One’s AT+i™ Protocol, a text-based API that enables fast and easy implementation of Internet networking and security protocols. AT+i requires no programming expertise on the part of the designer. Only a few hours are required to create full-featured Internet access, including TCP sockets, SSL encryption, routing, e-mail, and file transfers.
CO2144 brings Internet security commonly found only in PCs to embedded devices. It serves as a “firewall on a chip,” protecting the embedded device from the Internet attacks. It also includes the latest WLAN (64/128-bit WEP, WPA/WPA2 enterprise) and Internet (AES-128/256, SHA-128/192/256, 3DES; SSL3/TLS1 protocol for a secure client socket session) encryption algorithms for complete, end to end encryption support.
“We designed the CO2144 for mobile device developers who need a compact, high-performance M2M IP controller,” noted Ariel Shulman, Connect One vice president of sales. “This miniature communications controller is a highly integrated system-on-a-chip with the latest in secure IP networking protocols perfectly tailored to mobile applications. Because of our AT+i application interface, CO2144 enables customers to release their products quickly and reliably, while reducing development and maintenance costs.”
Embedded developers wanting to add a web user interface to their solutions may use CO2144’s embedded HTTP/HTTPS web server. By uploading the application website into the CO2144 and using simple AT+i commands, the embedded device instantly offers a modern WebUI to the end user.
CO2144 offers flexible connectivity. The chip supports seamless WLAN roaming, multiple SSID and WPA2-Enterprise authentication commonly required in large scale WLAN deployments. As well, it supports dial-up and LAN wired networks, as well as 802.11b/g WLAN and practically all cellular solutions (e.g. CDMA, GSM, GPRS, UMTS). CO2144 includes a 10/100BaseT Ethernet MAC and supports 10 simultaneous TCP/UDP sockets; two listening TCP sockets; SMTP, MIME, POP3, FTP/Secure FTP, Telnet, and HTTP/HTTPS clients; and SerialNet™ mode for serial-to-IP bridging.
Developers enjoy a wealth of interfaces. CO2144 eases development by including USB v.2.0 full-speed host and device, a high-speed parallel bus, external bus, SPI, two-wire and USART interfaces. Security features include a random number generator, SHA-1/256 secure hash accelerator, AES-128/192/256 encryption accelerator, 3DES, SSL3/TLS1, and WEP/WPA2 encryption for WiFi. iChipSec also acts as a router among LAN, WiFi and modem platforms, serving as an access point or gateway, which further reduces infrastructure cost and enhances network security.
The CO2144 operates at an industrial temperature range of -40° to 85° C (-40° to 185° F) and is RoHS-compliant.
