Autodesk Software Helps Sparks Fly for Leading German Thermoelectric Pioneer
O-Flexx Technologies GmbH, a pioneer in the manufacture of thermoelectric generators, is using 3D design and engineering software from Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) to develop innovative ways of powering off-grid sensors and converting waste heat into electricity.
O-FlThe Autodesk Clean Tech Partner Program, which provides software for emerging clean tech companies in North America, Europe, and Japan has enabled O-Flexx to work closely with its partners on the design and engineering of this pioneering technology. In particular, it uses Autodesk Inventor Professional in conjunction with its partners to streamline the design of the new generators.
Joining the programme has enabled O-Flexx to leverage the benefits of Digital Prototyping.
As Marcel Wassink, CEO of O-Flexx Technologies, comments, “Using Inventor as part of a Digital Prototyping workflow helps us drive an innovative development programme which will enable us to implement our patented technology which leads to 2-3 times the efficiency levels of conventional thermoelectric modules and generators.”
O-Flexx is also using Autodesk® Vault data management software to store and manage designs and drawings, enabling it to quickly find and reuse design data and achieve more flexible and easier management of design and engineering information.
“One of the great benefits of the Autodesk software is that it is easy to use,” adds Wassink, “which means new and existing designers and engineers across O-Flexx and our extended development team are familiar with it and require only minimal training.”
Erwin Burth, business development manager for Clean Tech at Autodesk, says: “ The aim of the Autodesk Clean Tech Partner Program is to support early-stage clean technology companies by providing design and engineering software that accelerates their development of solutions to the world's most pressing environmental challenges. Our rapidly expanding partner base is testament to the appeal of our offering to these companies.”
Burth continues: “O-Flexx is a great example of a company that is using Digital Prototyping to help drive the industry’s transition to environmentally sustainable energy sources and to deliver genuine innovation in its field of thermoelectric generators.”
