Arrow and Everex create development kit for ARM technologies
Arrow’s European Reference Board team, in partnership with hardware and software specialist Everex, has created a new development platform that will speed the design, prototyping and testing of high-performance, multimedia embedded systems based on the latest ARM processor technology.
The As well as the LCD panel, the kit offers audio input and output and an input for a 3 column x 4 row keypad. Connectivity includes connectors for the CPU, a 10/100Mbps Ethernet port, RS232 and RS485 capabilities, two USB host interfaces and one USB client. The USB connectivity facilitates the addition of a wide range of additional functionality including wireless communications, while slots for SD cards and compactFlash cards ensure compatibility with portable media.
The new kit provides full support for both Linux and Microsoft Windows Embedded CE operating systems. To further speed application development of Windows-based embedded systems, the kit is supplied with the Everex BSP (Board Support Package) for Windows Embedded CE.
Designed with portability and ease of use in mind, the Arrow and Everex ARM development kit has dimensions of just 201mm x 228mm x 53mm including DC power input and integrated battery charger. As well as the hardware and software, Arrow’s new kit is supplied with a CD-ROM that contains a user guide, full PCB schematics, bill of material (BoM) data and a tutorial covering building and debugging Windows CE applications. USB cables and a JTAG adapter to program the Bootloader into Flash on the CPU module are also supplied.
