New Device Targets Precise IEEE 1588 Grandmaster Clocks
At the Embedded World in Nuremberg February 26-28 Imsys announced a new device - the IM3240 - to complement its product range for IEEE1588 clock synchronization. At the tradeshow its sibling products are demonstrated showing slave accuracies of 15 nanoseconds using sub-dollar clock oscillators.
National Instruments Introduces the LabVIEW 8.5 Control Design and Simulation Module
National Instruments has announced the release of the NI LabVIEW 8.5 Control Design and Simulation Module, an extension of the LabVIEW graphical system design platform that helps engineers and scientists analyse open-loop model behavior, design closed-loop controllers, simulate systems and create real-time implementations. The latest version of the module introduces new design features such as analytical proportional integral derivative (PID) for...
IAR Systems and SEGGER announce flash breakpoints functionality in IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM
IAR Systems and SEGGER Microcontroller, leading manufacturers of software packages for embedded systems, today announced the availability of ‘Flash Breakpoints’ integrated into IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM.
10-Gigabit Ethernet XMC/PMC module integrates optical transceiver
AdvancedIO Systems, the leading provider of configurable 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) connectivity for real-time computing systems, today announced the release of the V1021 configurable 10GbE connectivity and packet processing XMC/PMC module. Thanks to the integration of SFP+, the latest 10-gigabit optical transceiver technology, the V1021 provides high bandwidth data-pipe performance with flexible processing functionality in a single chassis slot...
Ethernet controller from Nu Horizons minimises packet loss
Nu Horizons Electronics has announced availability of the LAN9218i from SMSC. This single-chip 10/100 Ethernet controller is designed for high performance embedded applications. Packet loss is reduced or eliminated through the use of 16KByte of internal SRAM that can hold over 200 received packets. If the receive FIFO gets too full, the device automatically generates flow control packets to the remote node, or asserts back-pressure on the remote ...
XMOS chooses CoSy for Software Defined Silicon
XMOS Semiconductor is using the CoSy compiler development system from ACE Associated Compiler Experts in the development of the tool suite for its XCore processor. An event driven, multi-threaded processor, XCore is programmed using C and the XMOS originated XC language, which adds support for parallel processing, event driven control and time-driven programming models.
DSCs provide fixed point affordability and floating point ease-of-use to enable energy-efficient industrial applications
Embedded control engineers prefer the simplified programming provided by floating-point architectures, but are often deterred by the higher cost. Addressing this paradox, Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) today announced what is said to be the first fixed-point digital signal controllers (DSCs) that are entirely compatible in hardware and software with high-performance floating-point DSCs. TI’s new TMS320F282x series of DSCs combine the a...
IPv4/IPv6 Dual Stack for Embedded Networking
Express Logic, Inc has announced the availability of NetX Duo its new dual IPv4/IPv6 TCP/IP stack. NetX Duo is built upon the solid field-proven foundation of Express Logic’s NetX TCP/IP stack, an IPv4-only solution. Now, as developers recognize the greatly expanded demands of Internet enabled devices, NetX has been extended to support IPv6 as well.
