WLAN firmware with PRP technology
Belden has introduced the latest version of its WLAN firmware to manage its line of OpenBAT industrial wireless devices, The Hirschmann HiLCOS 8.9 is the first industrial wireless application of integrated Parallel Redundancy Protocol (PRP) technology, an industry standard that enables systems to overcome network failures without affecting data transmission.
Design metamaterial antennas using CST STUDIO SUITE
Computer Simulation Technology has revealed that Kymeta used the CST STUDIO SUITE electromagnetic (EM) simulation tool to design a range of lightweight portable antennas for mobile satellite communications. By integrating virtual prototyping into the design process, Kymeta was able to gain insight into the functioning of the antenna, minimise the number of real prototypes required and reduce costs.
Expanded SoC platform enables simplified development
The R-IN32M3 series platform for industrial Ethernet protocols, from Renesas, has been expanded with an IAR Systems development kit and multiple Industrial Ethernet protocol stacks support. The IAR KickStart Kit for R-IN32M3 SoCs includes an R-IN board, an I-jet Lite debug probe and evaluation versions of IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM, as well as lots of protocol stacks on Renesas’ website. The solution enables simplified development and c...
DSP LiB aims to boost practical skills of students
Seeking to help boost practical skills development and the creation of new ARM-based audio systems, ARM will be shipping a DSP 'Lab-in-a-Box' (LiB) to universities worldwide. The LiB kits contain ARM Cortex-M4-based MCU boards by STMicroelectronics and audio cards from Wolfson Microelectronics and Farnell element14.
Starter kit launched for Renesas’ R-IN32M3 platform
IAR Systems has announced that its development tools for ARM enhance and extend the R-IN32M3 platform for industrial Ethernet protocols from Renesas Electronics. To ease development and evaluation of the device, IAR Systems has launched its starter kit IAR KickStart Kit for R-IN32M3 which includes IAR Embedded Workbench for ARM.
Product suite enables optimisation of complex electronic systems
Providing designers with the ability to assemble and optimise complex electronic systems, the Xpedition Path Finder product suite has been launched by Mentor Graphics. The product suite supports a methodology that leverages layout data from the IC and board design teams to guide and automate IC package selection and optimisation.
SDK enables designers to achieve ‘first call’ in one day
Enabling the configuration of baseband-to-radio communication and first call or system verification in just one day, the RF Software Development Kit (RFSDK) has been added to TI's Base Station SoftwarePac. With the RFSDK, TI’s KeyStone-based TCI6630K2L small cell SoC and TCI6631K2L backhaul SoC can now seamlessly implement digital radio functions like DPD and CFR.
Tool allows quick power supply PCB layout
Enabling the quick creation of a power supply PCB layout, the WEBENCH PCB Export has been unveiled as a new feature in TI’s online WEBENCH Power Designer tool. The tool allows engineers to export the layout to CAD development platforms such as those provided by Cadence and Mentor Graphics.
Development kits support advanced robotics
XMOS and Synapticon have jointly announced a range of development kits which allow developers to address new opportunities in rapidly growing sectors such as consumer and professional robotics, transportation, and the $170bn (USD) factory automation market. This enables emerging trends such as Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing.
CST automates EM and multi-physics simulation workflows
Computer Simulation Technology (CST) has revealed features to automate workflows for field source coupling and multi-physics simulation using its System Assembly and Modeling (SAM) framework. Since 2012, CST has offered the ability to link together multiple simulation and post-processing tasks using the SAM framework in CST STUDIO SUITE. The 2014 release builds on this with features that automate the creation of SAM projects for common design tas...
