Insta, a cyber security provider and strategic partner to the Finnish Defence Forces, is the first in Finland to offer a security classification level II (TL II – SECRET) compliant encryption solution for securing critical data transfers.
The Finnish next-generation solution meets the needs of national security authorities and other organisations that transmit TL II level information between points of access, data centres, sites and networks.
"This product is the result of our extensive product development efforts. Its accreditation process has progressed according to plan, and we expect to receive accreditation by June 2025," said Mika Joutsenvirta, Director, Network Security, Insta.
The Insta SafeLink Secret encryption device meets the requirements of a high security classification level. It is designed to handle high volumes of data and maintain its performance under increasingly higher loads.
The new Government Defence Report states that the competence and supply chains concerning the highest levels of national non-disclosable information will stay in national control. This will require national capacity to develop, produce, assess, certify and accredit encryption products for highest levels of classified information.
Finland’s self-sufficiency in critical cryptographic technologies is also emphasised in the national Cyber Security Strategy, which was published in late 2024. The development of Insta SafeLink Secret that enables protecting security classification level II data transfers is Insta’s response to this need. The design, development, production, service, and product support are based in Finland, even under emergency conditions.

The new Insta SafeLink Secret encryption device complements the product family by meeting the TL II level requirements and also taking into account the NATO requirements.
"Our goal is to receive the NATO-S (SECRET) accreditation for the encryption device. International product accreditations enable the use of Insta SafeLink encryption solutions for protecting the transfers of classified EU and NATO documents. As a result of the NATO membership, there is a need for NATO-accredited encryption devices in Finland. However, we also see the potential for our products in the international markets," added Joutsenvirta.
