Crypto Quantique, a provider of quantum-driven security solutions for the Internet of Things (IoT), has announced a partnership with ADLINK Technology to simplify the secure boot process for industrial PCs (IPCs) using the QuarkLink security platform.

Secure boot is essential for protecting the security and integrity of connected devices, ensuring that only authorised and trusted software is executed on IPCs. However, implementing secure boot can be a complicated and resource-heavy task, particularly when faced with tight deadlines or limited resources. Traditionally, activating secure boot requires careful management of cryptographic keys, validating firmware authenticity, and enforcing strict protections against unauthorised modifications, even when physical access to a device is possible.

QuarkLink simplifies these challenges by automating and streamlining the entire secure boot process. With QuarkLink, firmware teams can easily manage the creation, distribution, and storage of secure boot keys, establishing a zero-touch, zero-trust environment that significantly lowers the risk of security breaches.

By integrating QuarkLink with ADLINK's IPCs, additional benefits are delivered for the product lifecycle management of device security. ADLINK can now automatically generate and securely store cryptographic keys during the manufacturing process, which are securely transferred to end-users through an authenticated system. This approach eliminates the risks linked to manual key handling and ensures that only trusted firmware runs on devices. End-users can also easily verify the authenticity of their IPCs and securely onboard them to their networks. The platform also supports secure over-the-air updates, device attestation, and certificate renewal, ensuring devices remain protected throughout their operational life.

“QuarkLink is the most comprehensive, streamlined approach to end-to-end device security for industrial PCs that we have seen. It consolidates and automates numerous critical device security functions for both OEMs and end users that must otherwise be managed manually within a complex ecosystem. Such a manual approach is too expensive and high risk for any company that understands the evolving security landscape,"  said Henri Parmentier, Senior Product Manager, Computer-on-Modules BU, ADLINK.

The QuarkLink platform is designed to meet the highest security standards, complying with regulations such as the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), CE Mark, and ISO 62443. By adopting QuarkLink, ADLINK ensures full compliance with these stringent regulations, offering reassurance to customers in regulated sectors including healthcare, industrial automation, and critical infrastructure.
