Hakko introduce new soldering iron
As well as a prerequisite for professionals in the electrical and electronics industries, the soldering iron has long been an essential tool for many DIYers and hobbyists. Suitable for all abilities from beginner to consummate professional, Hakko’s new soldering iron will deliver on a range of electrical and electronic soldering requirements.
The Hakko FX-601 has a temperature range of +240°C to +540°C and can be used with a variety of different tips. This new soldering iron is supplied as standard with a 6.5mm chisel tip, which is good for heavier, more challenging solder applications. However, for other applications, please see our complete range of ten T19 series soldering tips, which have been configured to achieve high thermal recovery without increasing power consumption. The lightweight and well-balanced FX-601 eliminates the need for a controller and instead uses an LED alert to notify the user when the temperature setting has been reached. In addition, there are options to purchase one of three different iron holders and solder fume extraction units.
The Hakko FX-601 is a genuinely versatile soldering iron thanks to the range of temperatures it provides, making it suitable for all manner of soldering requirements. Changes to the soldering temperature are easily affected by a rotating control dial mounted on the side of the handle, which allows quick and easy changes to suit all different types of solder alloy and the application. This is important as a ‘one temperature-fits-all’ approach simply won’t work for all scenarios and the temperature will need to be adjusted depending on the type of soldering you are doing. The temperature setting can also be locked by removing the central screw and detaching the control dial. After detaching the dial, changes to the temperature setting can still be made by using the dedicated lock key (supplied as standard). The FX-601 is a powerful piece of kit, suitable for all manner of applications from small, intricate work to more demanding soldering with a higher heatsink effect. In short, it is the perfect all-rounder and a valuable addition to any workshop or toolbox.
