Using their elastomers and adhesives, Teknek have developed a cleaning solution for webs. The company hope to replace contact cleaning, which can cause micro-scratching, with the SCH, a gentler solution. This incorporates the Nanocleen high performance cleaning core in a small footprint and can handle webs of 1000-2200mm in width.

The SCH, which is 100% silicon free, removes nanometre sized particles from even the thinnest of films and reduces static build-up in the web, all without affecting the Nanocleen core. The range of materials which can be cleaned include PET, Polyimide, ITO sputtered materials (for touchscreen applications), Flexible Copper Clad Laminates and security/holographic films.

Roy Cannon, Product Manager, Teknek, commented: “The Nanocleen core in the SCH unit offers maximum cleaning performance with minimum risk of damaging delicate and fragile film. The SCH has incorporated simple pressure controls which, combined with the Nanocleen’s low tack- high cleaning efficiency system, allow ultra-thin films (down to 9µm) to be processed without affecting the web tension. Manufacturers are under pressure to cut costs whilst maintaining quality. The end user does not want to pay for scrap. By using the Teknek system they can use a lower quality film, clean it, then process it. By fitting these simple contact cleaners at each critical stage of production -unwind, coating, lamination and rewind- converters can make the cost reductions they need.”

He added: “We have seen a number of OEM’s install turret cleaning systems which use a single cleaning roller. They appear inexpensive to install – ( better for the OEM ) but the inefficiencies of these systems are soon all to clear to the converter who owns the problem. The SCH allows these existing installations to be upgraded to a proper world class contact cleaner!”
