Automated fluid dispensing systems integrate vision sensing
Designed for integration into any manufacturing operation, the PRO series of automated fluid dispensing systems has been released by Nordson EFD. Vision and laser height sensing is integrated with closed-loop encoding. This provides an automated solution which has advanced dispensing capabilities and is quick and easy to set up, programme and operate.
Simplifying programming, detailed component part images are captured by a smart vision CCD camera and converted into high resolution digital images. EFD's DispenseMotion software, designed for precise fluid dispensing, is integrated within the vision system. This provides an on-screen preview of the dispensing path, simplifying set-up and facilitating programming. The software, which allows the dispense tip to be driven to the precise point needed, also simplifies importing and converting DXF, CAD and Excel. The easy programming of dots, lines, circles, arcs, compound arcs and complex patterns is enabled by the true 3D motion control.
Laser height sensing, which detects height variations on the surface of a product, is also integrated within the PRO4L series. To prevent uneven deposits and tip or workplace damage, the laser makes corrections to the dispensing height.
The PRO series is designed for fluid dispensing using EFD syringe barrel and valve systems. Available in sizes of 200x200, 300x300, 400x400 and 500x500, the systems are suitable for a variety of applications. While the dispensing systems can operate as standalone systems, they can also be integrated with in-line transfer systems, rotary tables and pallet assembly lines.
EFD are releasing the E and EV automated dispensing systems alongside the PRO and PROL systems. The E series uses a teach pendant for dispense programming, while the EV series uses a vision camera to support on-screen set-up. To enable customer's to meet their application requirements, EFD is providing complimentary assessments.
"Nordson EFD's new PRO Series automated dispensing system 'thinks'," said Kelvin Fernandez, Product Manager, Nordson EFD. "Programming is going to be much faster, because it's simple to learn and it's easier to visually see your dispensing path as you set the parameters.
"And with the closed-loop system, it's constantly checking to make sure that your dispensing process stays in control," Fernandez adds. "With the introduction of the PRO Series, EFD gives customers a breadth of new options and dispensing capabilities. The end goal is that customers will benefit from faster cycle times, reduced manufacturing and ownership costs, and the flexibility to use the same automated dispensing system in different production areas."
The automated fluid dispensing systems will be presented by EFD at Molek International. The event takes place from 6-9 October 2014 in Stuttgart, Germany, with EFD in Hall 7, Stand 7228.
