Conformal coating solutions seminars
Leader in dispensing, jetting, and coating equipment and technologies, Nordson ASYMTEK, has announced a collaboration with The Peters Group, Kempen, Germany, to conduct a series of seminars in China on conformal coating.
The latest ‘periodic table’ for nanomaterials
A new simulation could help scientists decide what molecules best interact with each other to build nanomaterials from scratch. The approach was developed by Daniel Packwood of Kyoto University’s Institute for Integrated Cell-Material Sciences (iCeMS) and Taro Hitosugi of the Tokyo Institute of Technology. It involves connecting the chemical properties of molecules with the nanostructures that form as a result of their interaction.
Breakthrough materials move in response to light
Researchers at Tufts University School of Engineering have developed magnetic elastomeric composites that move in different ways when exposed to light, raising the possibility that these materials could enable a wide range of products that perform simple to complex movements, from tiny engines and valves to solar arrays that bend toward the sunlight. The research is described in an article published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of S...
PCB assembly business secures industry standard
It has been announced that Hindley Circuits has secured an ISO 9001:2015, after meeting rigorous qualification requirements. As the most up-to date certification of its kind, and reportedly the hardest yet to achieve, the standard focuses around companies’ quality management systems.
Epoxy adhesive for structural bonding features long pot life
Master Bond EP21ND-LP was created for structural bonding applications involving large surface areas. It has a long working life of 2-4 hours at 75°F for a 100g mass. Its smooth paste consistency makes it convenient to apply and use. Shore D hardness is 70-80 when mixed in a one to one mix ratio by weight or volume. Moreover, certain properties of the epoxy can be altered by adjusting the mix ratio.
Accelerating PCB design cycles by integrating 3D design and 3D analysis
Cadence Design Systems has announced its Cadence Sigrity 2018 release, which includes new 3D capabilities that enable PCB design teams to accelerate design cycles while optimising cost and performance. A 3D design and 3D analysis environment integrating Sigrity tools with Cadence Allegro technology provides a more efficient and less error-prone solution than current alternatives utilising third-party modeling tools, saving days of ...
Reinforced thermal film for die-cutting
Sarcon 15GTR from Fujipoly is a thin, thermal interface composite film made from heat-conducting silicone and a .05mm fibreglass reinforcement layer. The general-purpose, .15mm thick film is ideal for applications with complex die-cut shapes.
Quantifying SF6 and PCBs with Nexis GC-2030
Shimadzu’s technology and expertise in gas sampling has enabled it to develop a bespoke Nexis GC-2030 for Celtic Recycling in Newport, Gwent, allowing the company to introduce GC screening of reclaimed and recycled SF6 gas, a service that no other company in the UK is currently able to offer. At the same time, the new system increased the laboratory’s capacity for the analysis of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in insulating oils.
Water soluble solder paste launched
It has been announced by SHENMAO America that they are introducing the PF606-PW215 water soluble solder paste. The company offers a full line of water soluble fluxes and solder pastes for SMT and IC packaging applications.
Single-celled architects inspire advanced nanotechnology
Diatoms are tiny, unicellular creatures, inhabiting oceans, lakes, rivers and soils. Through their respiration, they produce close to a quarter of the oxygen on Earth, nearly as much as the world’s tropical forests. In addition to their ecological success across the planet, they have a number of remarkable properties. Diatoms live in glasslike homes of their own design, visible under magnification in an astonishing and aesthetically beautif...
