The Weightless Special Interest Group (SIG) today announced that it has welcomed over 600 Members worldwide in the rapidly growing M2M ecosystem. To mark the milestone achievement the group today announced the launch of the inaugural issue of Zero-G, the Member publication for the Weightless SIG.
Zero-G offers SIG Members a unique insight into both Weightless technology and the organisation behind it. Following the seminal launch of the world's first Weightless compliant silicon in February it arrives in the run up to the milestone announcement of Version 1.0 of the Weightless Specification.

Zero-G makes comprehensive use of embedded video and offers Member profiles and interviews with key Weightless executives. It is intended to nurture and encourage communication amongst the SIG Members and to expand co-operation in the Weightless ecosystem for M2M and the IoT.

The growth in SIG membership mirrors the evolution of the M2M market worldwide widely forecasted to reach tens of billions of connected devices by 2020. Weightless explicitly addresses the unique requirements of diverse M2M applications with compelling competitive advantages over alternative technologies.

Weightless technology operating over TV white space spectrum exhibits very low terminal and network costs, terminal battery life equivalent to short range technologies such as Bluetooth - more than ten years on a single primary cell - and excellent signal propagation characteristics deriving superior range and building penetration. Weightless is a global, open, FRAND-Z standard.

First end products using Weightless technology are expected during 2013.
