Rugged vehicle-mount PCs selected for Scandinavian port
JLT Mobile Computers has completed the delivery of 70 units of rugged vehicle-mount VERSO 12 computers to one of the largest container ports in Scandinavia. Following initial testing of the Navis-validated VERSO 12 computer, the customer confidently placed an order in April this year for enough units to equip their entire fleet of port cranes and forklifts with the rugged PCs from JLT.
The decision for the investment was driven by the port’s need for a highly reliable IT solution to increase operational efficiency and performance through real-time data tracking. Designed from the bottom up for maximum reliability in the most demanding environments, the VERSO 12 computer is a proven and trusted workhorse for business-critical functions. With an Intel Atom Quad Core processor and a 64-bit operating system, it also packs substantial processing power into a small form factor.
Since the equipment will be used both indoors and outdoors, the customer was also won over by the bright and clear screen with PowerTouch technology of the JLT VERSO 12 computer which guarantees excellent readability no matter what the conditions. The virtually unbreakable display with PowerTouch Technology provides a familiar, user-friendly experience comparable to modern consumer devices, both with a gloved or ungloved hand, while ensuring ruggedness, reliability and longevity in even the most demanding environments.
As the customer relies on the Navis N4 TOS (Terminal Operating System), the fact that the VERSO 12 computers have passed Navis testing was another significant benefit. Navis N4 is a smart operating system that optimizes container and equipment moves across marine terminals. Choosing a Navis-validated partner gives customers advance assurance that the newly deployed devices will integrate seamlessly with the Navis N4 TOS environment at the hardware and software level.
The complete solution is installed and serviced by Lexit Group, a leading supplier of high performance data collection and product labelling hardware and a JLT Authorised Sales Partner for Scandinavia. Lexit will also provide all technical support and be the primary contact for the customer.
“As a Swedish company, we are particularly pleased that our VERSO 12 vehicle-mount computers are the solution of choice by one of the leading port operators in Scandinavia,” stated Per Holmberg, CEO, JLT Mobile Computers. “Next to the high reliability, outstanding performance and Navis validation, for which JLT products are valued by port customers around the world, I am convinced that our unique ability to offer local support through our sales partner program was a key factor in winning this significant order.”
