PLX Technology (NASDAQ: PLXT),the leader in connectivity solutions for the data center and the home, today announced its PCI Express® (PCIe®) Gen 2 switch family is now offered for industrial temperature (I-temp) operation. PLX® I-temp products are ideal for emerging high-performance environments ranging from inside the box to outside box-to-box connectivity on the backplane – designs that potentially face wide-ranging temperatures.
The markets ideal for I-temp PCIe switches include data center servers, routers and storage, as well as military, industrial, test, medical and other rigorous applications that require intensive high-reliability performance. PLX has delivered I-temp (-40° to +85°) switches and bridges since its first generation of PCIe products and continues that trend today with high-performance, feature-rich devices ranging from four lanes to 48 lanes (and from 64 to 96 lanes at extended commercial temperature).

As the market leader in product variety, market share and advanced technology for PCI Express connectivity, PLX is leveraging its success to provide devices with the most robust temperature range, said Mike Grubisich, vice president of global operations at PLX. Offering I-temp for our Gen 2 solutions paves the way for today's more demanding designs, as we ramp toward the release of our next-generation PCI Express 3.0-compliant products.

PLX sampled the world's first PCIe Gen 1 switches in 2004 and continues its leadership with the world's first Gen 3 products that are in-house today and will be available later this year. The company will demonstrate these industry-first PCIe Gen 3 silicon and software solutions at the PCI-SIG Developers Conference in Santa Clara, Calif., on June 23-24, 2010. Registration is free for PCI-SIG members. PLX will also host a technical presentation at the event, titled, The Case for PCI Express as the Backplane Interconnect.
