Mobile access router extends Cisco internetworking
Provider of embedded systems and a global player in Internet of Things (IoT) enablement, Eurotech, announced today the BoltMAR 20-11. The BoltMAR 20-11 is an entry-level rugged EN50155 Mobile Access Router (MAR) featuring the Cisco 5921 Embedded Services Router (ESR). The BoltMAR 20-11 expands the Eurotech family of ruggedised MAR products with a Cisco IOS software-based routing platform.
With WiFi, multiple Ethernet, serial and digital I/O interfaces, BoltMAR 20-11 allows field-proven Cisco internetworking to be extended to enterprise fleet applications in the harshest mobile environments. BoltMAR 20-11 features Cisco IOS-powered routing, internetworking and management essential to homogeneous Cisco enterprise networks.
Features supported by Cisco’s 5921 ESR stack include a full suite of Internet routing protocols, VLAN support, mobility features such as Mobile IP and Radio Aware routing, QoS and traffic shaping, authentication and encryption security features and IOS management functions. Complementing these routing features is a rugged mobile computing platform offering a robust set of interfaces suited for remote and fleet applications, including multiple Ethernet, USB/serial, digital I/O and video. The product also features a dual-band high transmit power WiFi suitable for vehicle area networks, CANbus 2.0 for integration with engine controls and an internal 50-channel GPS receiver. The low power, fanless design is optimised for SWaP (Size, Weight and Power) reduction initiatives.
Cellular connectivity is available by adding Eurotech's innovative ReliaCELL Modular Cellular Adapters, rugged, IP67-rated USB modems supporting all of the latest 4G wireless technologies and certified for carrier networks worldwide. Using ReliaCELLs, the BoltMAR 20-11 can be easily field-configured to optimise carrier connectivity across markets, and the modularity of the solution future-proofs the product to future technology standards.
The BoltMAR 20-11 is suitable for applications in control systems, information display systems, remote sensor management, vehicle-to-vehicle and on-board communications, high-speed networking, and surveillance. Target vertical markets for these applications include fleet management, energy, oil and gas, utilities, agriculture, logistics, transportation, public safety, and defense.
“As our latest Mobile Access Router offering, the BoltMAR 20-11 brings together Cisco-enabled routing and management with Eurotech’s best-in-class rugged embedded computing platform,” said Neal Calanni Vice President of Marketing of Eurotech. “The product complements Eurotech’s rolling stock-optimised BoltMAR 20-28 providing an extremely robust router at entry-level price that targets both applications where an existing Cisco based infrastructure is in place, and all those cases where advanced networking is required such as in large vehicle fleets.”
Eurotech offers Professional Services for the BoltMAR 20-11, such as design personalisation and inclusion of new features and technologies, additional certifications, system development and production. Extended life programmes are also available to qualified customers.
