Belden unveils three new I/O modules for new Lumberg LioN-R series
Belden has today announced three new I/O modules, for the EMEA region, in the new LioN-R series from Lumberg Automation, which can be used to securely connect sensors and actuators to EtherNet/IP networks under rugged environmental conditions.
ThesBoth EtherNet/IP ports are equipped with four-pole M12 connectors with D coding, and the 16 I/O slots, each of which can send or receive two digital signals, have five-pole M12 connectors with A coding. The output current rating goes up to 1.6 A per channel with a maximum total current capacity of 9 A per module. The optimized slot arrangement makes them easy to use even with T distributors.
To avoid confusion, both the I/O connectors and the network ports are colour-coded. IP addresses are set up using rotary switches. Both modules are configured directly via the user interface of the control unit. The easy diagnostics concept allows precise channel and bus diagnosis.
The I/O modules are enclosed in a diecast zinc housing measuring 261.4 x 59.6 x 17.6 mm (length x width x height). Even including the power supply slots, the units are still only 26.3 mm high. All versions are designed for a temperature range of -10°C to +60°C. The power supply, which is connected via two four-pole 7/8 slots, has a rated voltage of 24V and a voltage range of 15 to 30V.
With this new LioN-R series from the Lumberg Automation portfolio, Belden is, for the first time, marketing robust I/O modules in metal housings for EtherNet/IP applications. As product manager Mehmet Akcit says: “These modules can be used wherever inputs and outputs need to be networked securely with controllers under harsh environmental conditions. This includes applications in mechanical and plant engineering where there are welding sparks, filings, or aggressive coolants and lubricants.”
