Lanner Network Appliances Now Supporting Intel 3rd Generation (Ivy Bridge) Processors
Lanner Electronics announced the support of Intel’s third generation processor technology, Ivy Bridge, with its FX-3210, FW-8865, FW-8758 and FW-7582 network appliances. The 2U rackmount FX-3210 is engineered to meet challenging security system management requirements.
By cThe FW-8865 is a 1U rackmount network appliance designed for demanding network applications. The FW-8865 features hot-swappable system fans, HDD trays and two Ethernet module bays for flexible port configuration. The FW-8865 is popular for DDoS, enterprise UTM, enterprise firewalls, intrusion prevention systems (IPS), application delivery and WAN optimization. Ivy Bridge processor options for this system include Intel Xeon E3-1275V2, Intel Xeon E3-1225V2, Intel Core i3-3220, and Intel Pentium G2120.
The FW-8758 is a 1U rackmount network appliance with one Ethernet module bay and a mid-range x86 processor architecture. This is a popular platform for UTM, firewalls, VPN, IPS and WAN optimization. Ivy Bridge processor options for this system include Intel Pentium G2120, Intel Core i3-3220, Intel Core i5-3550, and Intel Core i7-3770.
The FW-7582 is 1U rackmount network appliance with an entry-level x86 processor architecture. This is suitable for SMB UTM firewall, VPN, IPS and WAN optimization. Ivy Bridge processor options for this system include Intel Pentium G2120, and Intel Core i3-3220.
According to Intel, Ivy Bridge processors outperform its predecessor, Sandy Bridge, with a 5%~15% increase in CPU performance and 25%~68% increase in integrated GPU performance. Ivy Bridge processors use 3-D Tri-Gate transistor technology which consumes up to 50% less power than 2-D transistors at the same performance level. Existing customers who wish to upgrade to Ivy Bridge may require a BIOS update, but will definitely see an increase in performance and a reduction in power consumption.
