EMTrust has announced the E5 Industrial Panel PC, a powerful plug & play system solution for fanless applications in industrial environments. The CE-certified device is powered by a voltage of 8 to 32VDC or via Power over Ethernet (PoE), offering flexibility. With a 7" TFT display, the PC is based on the latest Intel Atom processors with clock speeds up to 1.6GHz.

Operation is user-friendly and easy, via the touch screen and six buttons, four of which are freely assignable keys. The front panel and control keys are protected in accordance with protection class IP65. As a result, the Panel PC can be easily installed in wet and dusty environments.

Running Microsoft Windows Embedded Standard 7, the EM5 is suitable for applications in harsh, hot environments which require high processing power and long reliability. Due to the compact design and the small mounting depth, the Panel PC can be integrated even in small control cabinets.

The Panel PC operates in the extended temperature range of -20 to + 70°C. Its memory is a maximum of 2GB of DDR2 DRAM. The interface package includes two USB 2.0 hosts, a mini-B USB, a RS232, an RX/TX, a RS485 and a 1Gb Ethernet port. There are also connections for mono speaker and stereo headphones, a CAN 2.0B interface for standard communications with various machine components, four digital inputs, four digital outputs and optional expandability via a micro SD card slot.

Other technical features include a hardware monitor and a watchdog timer, wireless communication via WLAN (802.11a / g / n) and Bluetooth and optional GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA modules. For high data transfer rates and maximum storage capacity, mSATA flash SSD from 8 to 500GB is available. Measuring just 194,8x158x34mm, the PC does not require rotating mechanical components. The display has a resolution of 800x480px and a brightness of 400cd/m².
