Interface Masters Technologies, an industry leader and innovator in networking solutions, has announced the first member of its new 10GBASE-T copper 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GE) Server Adapter Card family that is designed to integrate with PCI-express (PCI-e) based Inline Networking Servers, including WAN Acceleration, UTM, and IPS Systems, and Security and Monitoring Appliances such as Firewalls, IDS systems, and Analysis Probes. The Niagara 32711-TX server adapter supports RJ-45 1G copper in addition to 10GBASE-T enabling networks supporting 1G copper architectures to maintain the cabling and connections for their existing topology.
The new Niagara 32711-TX 10GBASE-T copper NIC is based on the field-proven and time-tested Intel 82599 10GbE Controller, which provides PCI-e 2.0 (5 GT/s) support, low power 6.2W operation, and intelligent queue support optimized for multicore processors consisting of 128 Transmit (Tx) and Receive (Rx) Queues. The 82599 also offers Intel's Virtualization Technology for Connectivity (VT-c), which helps reduce I/O bottlenecks, boost throughput, and reduces latency. The Virtual Machine Device Queues improve performance by offloading the data-sorting burden from the virtual machine manager (VMM) to the network controller. The server adapter possesses specialized features including layer 2 & 3 security including IPSec & LinkSec, Intel® I/OAT Acceleration v3.0, VLAN Tagging, Stripping and Packet Filtering, FCoE Transmit, Segmentation and offload, and SNMP and RMON statistic counters.

For 10GBASE-T, the Niagara 32711-TX uses the industry-leading SFT9102 10GBASE-T transceiver from Solarflare Communications. At 4.5 watts, the SFT9102 is the lowest-power 10GBASE-T transceiver on the market at the 40 nanometer silicon process technology node.

We are pleased to support Interface Masters in the introduction of a leading 10GBASE-T server adapter based on the SFT9102 dual-port 10GBASE-T PHY, said Ajay Rane, General Manager - PHY Solutions, Solarflare Communications. Our 10GBASE-T PHYs' support dynamic power scaling (DPS) which enables the Niagara 32711-TX adapter to automatically reduce power consumption for shorter link lengths. Additionally, link detect mode enables the PHY to power down to a deep sleep state and helps further reduce the adapter power consumption automatically, by detecting the absence of a link partner. We look forward to working closely with Interface Masters and supporting them in bringing additional products based on our portfolio of single, dual and quad port 10GBASE-T PHYs.

Niagara 32711-TX provides features that are essential in today's data centers:

* Intel 82599EB Dual Port Ethernet controller
* PCI-e x8 (Gen 2.0) compatible
* Peak bandwidth 20 Gb/s in each direction on PCI Express bus
* Supports the emerging PCI SIG SR-IOV (single-root IO virtualization) standard
* Accelerates guest applications in VMware, Citrix XenServer and Microsoft Hyper V environments.
* TCP/UDP/IP checksum offload and TCP segmentation
* Layer 2, 3 and 4 Advanced packet filtering capabilities (IPv4, IPv6)
* Full RoHS compliance
* FCC Class A and CE certification

The Niagara 32711-TX utilizes the latest Solarflare 10GBASE-T PHY combined with Intel's 82599 MAC, delivering advantages in cost and power to support system integrators, IT security companies and networking server manufacturers, stated Ehud Yuhjtman, President of Interface Masters Technologies. This new server adapter will enable our customers to take advantage of the rapidly progressing market transition to 10GBASE-T media to address this untapped demand.
