High-performance box IPC with two cores in control cabinet format
A high computing power coupled with low energy consumption characterizes DSM Computer's Galaxy G1-A control cabinet computer that was specially developed for the industrial automation. The box IPC is based on the performance-optimized, energy-saving D510 Intel Atom Dual Core processor that runs with a clock rate of 1.66 GHz and integrates 1 MB L2 cache (each processor 512 KB). The maximum system memory capacity is 4 GB. The Intel 801HM I/O controller (ICH8M) is used as chip set. The graphic for this new generation is integrated in the processor and, with 400 MHz is faster than the previous solution.
The Despite its compact construction of 149 x 260 x 280 mm, the control cabinet system provides four free PCI slots or three free PCI slots and one PCI Express™ x1 slot, and one internal Mini-PCI Express™ x1 slot that can accept a wide range of plug-in cards. This allows the computer to be easily expanded with all common supplementary modules for CAN bus and field bus (LON, PROFIBUS, Interbus), and with customer-specific controller cards.
A built-in 180 W power pack with 100 - 240 V input voltage or optionally a 24 VDC power pack with 200 W rating provides the power for the box IPC.
To save the user data, an externally accessible 3.5-inch and an internal 2.5-inch drive bay are provided. This allows two hard disks or two robust solid state disks (SSDs) to be used. The Galaxy® G1-A also has an internal Compact Flash socket.
The control cabinet computer provides a wide range of interfaces, including eight USB 2.0 ports (six external and two internal), SATA, audio and a fast Realtek 8111DL 1000 Base-T LAN interface. Of the four COM interfaces, as standard, three are externally accessible as RS232, one of which can be switched as RS232/422/485. A VGA graphical interface with a maximum resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels is provided.
