HEVC-enabled SoCs chosen for 4K media players

For its line of 4K media players, BrightSign has chosen Broadcom's Ultra HD SoC technology. Utilising the BCM7444 and BCM7252 SoCs, the digital signage media players deliver native 4K, 60fps video and 10-bit colour for a variety of commercial applications. The SoCs integrate HEVC technology, reducing bandwidth usage by 50% and allowing Ultra HD content to be delivered in half the time.

Also integrated within the BCM7444 and BCM7252 SoCs is the 10-bit Rec 2020 colour standard, delivering deeper, richer colour gradation. Broadcom will demonstrate the BCM7445 and BCM7252 SoCs in Booth 2.C25 at IBC, which takes place on from the 12th-16th September at RAI, Amsterdam.
