HD video systems monitor trains in Japan

The system features Semtech’s HD-VLC technology to achieve long-distance transmission of HD video, up to 300m, and full HD image quality provided by the ISD-220HD 'broadcast quality' cameras. The HD video is displayed portrait (9:16) to increase the visibility and coverage of the platform in crystal-clear HD. More JR Shinkansen stations will be equipped with Ikegami systems in the near future.

Semtech’s High-Definition Visually Lossless CODEC (HD-VLC) technology provides unprecedented levels of cable reach performance and enables long-distance transmission of high-quality HD digital video. HD-VLC has been specifically developed to allow both 720 and 1080p HD video to be transmitted at lower data rates over conventional CCTV coaxial cables. Combined with Semtech’s industry-leading cable equaliser and CDR technology, cable distances can be extended up to four times the reach of existing HD-SDI based products.
