Embedded modules for medical device applications
TQ-Systems has today announced the introduction of a new small embedded minimodule offering excellent computing performance. Ideally suited for the development of medical devices on the basis of its properties, the TQMa335x is based on the Texas Instruments AM335x ARM processor family.
Featuring small dimensions of 54 mm x 38 mm and low power consumption, the TQMa335x can be easily integrated with projects in diagnostics and monitoring or control through medical devices with and without graphics.
Differentiated by computing power and functionality, users can select any CPU variation (from AM3352 to AM3359). With processing power scaling from 300MHz up to 1000MHz, the user can select a processor module optimised in price and power for their individual applications and uses.
The graphic controller available in AM335x enables display applications to be run with a resolution of up to WXGA (1366x768), with optional 3D-graphic support. This enables the implementation of demanding and innovative operating concepts at a reasonable price.
Thanks to a total of 240 pins, the user can communicate via 2 x Gigabit Ethernet USB Host / USB OTG controller and up to 6 UARTs and also two CAN 2.0. Other functional units can be connected using the parallel address/data bus, SDIO, SPI, 12C and PCIe, while up to 12 Bit ADCs expand the areas of application.
The TQMa335x features a memory storage of up to 512MByte DDR3L and up to 16GB eMMC Flash to implement programs and data. The design is supplemented with an EEPROM, a real-time clock backed by battery from the mainboard, a 128 MByte SPI NOR Flash, and a supervisor for overvoltage and undervoltage.
Display units with different dimensions and resolutions can also be supplies, along with touch technologies such as a projective-capacitive touch or an analogue-resistive touch.
The TQMa335x with its properties offers the best prerequisites for the development of medical products including ECG monitors or ECG devices, blood pressure devices or operating units or other medical products in the field of diagnostics or laboratory application.
