DSM Computer presents a robust All-in-One PC with 21 cm (8.4 inch) touchscreen
To augment the built-in version in a solid aluminum industrial housing, DSM Computer presents for the first time at the SPS/IPC/Drives 2010 a stand-alone variant of the Infinity P8-A panel system with a plastic front. The 21 cm (8.4 inch) industrial panel exhibits a luminance of approx. 220 cd/m² for a maximum resolution of 800 x 600 pixels and provides a resistive touchscreen.
ThanTo permit fan-free operation, the P8-A is based on the energy-saving Intel® Atom™ N270 processor with 1.6 GHz clock rate and has a Thermal Design Power (TDP) of just 2.5 W. The Intel 945GSE and the Intel ICH7M with 533 MHz Front Side Bus are integrated as chipset. As standard, the computer is supplied with 2 GB main memory. Because all functions are integrated on a printed-circuit board, the internal wiring is minimized.
The Infinity P8-A provides many standard interfaces, such as GBit Ethernet, 2 x USB 2.0, PS/2 and serial ports. The Compact Flash type II socket for 4 GB (or larger) provided for data storage is externally accessible from a separate flap mounted on the rear side.
The All-in-One PC runs with the Windows XP (embedded) and WePOS (Windows embedded for Point of Service) operating systems. WePOS is an operating system tailored for POS applications that thanks to the reduced number of software modules is significantly easier to handle by developers. Furthermore, the writing of the archive file can be deactivated so even flash-based applications can be realized easily.
The main fields of application of the 21 cm (8.4 inch) panel system are industrial compact display systems and client-server applications for which the robustness and the small dimensions are the most important characteristics. In addition, thanks to its energy efficiency, the All-in-One PC is ideally suited for mobile use, such as in freight distribution centers.
