Impulse has today unveiled a new range of industry leading rack-mount computers, branded “CobraRack”. CobraRack is the result of over fifteen years experience building, testing and configuring custom rack-mount computers for many of Impulse’s UK customers. By listening closely to their needs, Impulse utilise the best-in-market hardware from their select choice of premium partners.
Impulse’s aim is to provide a cost effective and reliable solution to meet the needs of today’s industrial computing requirements.

Scalable performance

Utilising their range of high quality, long-lifetime industrial components, Impulse constructed the CobraRack series to be available in multiple platforms including single board computer and motherboard varieties, both with a multitude of component configurations and software options. CobraRack systems are available in multiple 19” rack form factors including 2U, 3U and 4U.

CobraRacks currently have three tiers of performance; high performance, mid rang and entry level:

High performance CobraRack systems utilise high performance multi-core Intel i7 processors, designed with useful features such as Intel Hyper-threading and Intel TurboBoost. The high performance range is aimed at graphic and CPU heavy applications including simulation, 3D rendering and high volume number crunching.

Mid range CobraRack system are designed around the popular Intel i5 processor family. Mid range CobraRack systems offer the best mix of performance and cost effectiveness and are ideal for most industrial applications including database and application servers, digital signage and factory automation.

Entry level CobraRack systems are best suited for applications which require controlled power efficiency whilst being operated 24/7. Utilising the latest range of energy efficient Intel Pentium processors, entry level CobraRack systems are ideal for high end data acquisition and control applications.

Along with the choice of mechanical platforms and performance offerings, CobraRack chassis are available in multiple choices of colour including black, beige and RAL7035 (grey). In addition, Impulse also offer de-brand designs for OEMs and resellers.

Impulse’s experienced technical sales and engineering team are able to design and configure CobraRack systems to meet your exact specification including processor, memory, storage and Microsoft Window operating system.

Quality assurance

CobraRack systems apply the Impulse APT design protocol, a series of guidelines set in place to provide a greater level of acoustics, power and thermal management. Impulse’s attention to detail is reflected both in the design and component chosen to make the CobraRack range.

From key components such as the 80 Plus Gold Certified power supplies, down to the type of washers and gaskets they use for their chassis fans, Impulse has reviewed, tested and set in place a standard to sure they meet the APT design promise.

All CobraRack systems are designed and built at Impulse’s purpose-built system integration facility in Stoke-on-Trent, UK. Impulse control every aspect of the CobraRack design and conduct strict testing to ensure every system that leaves their facility is in perfect working condition. Impulse has full revision control over their CobraRack systems, ensuring consistency throughout its life on the market.
