Bluetooth SIG Assembles Notable Judging Panel for Annual Bluetooth Breakthrough Awards
The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) today announced a roster of industry luminaries who will form the judging panel for the 2014 Bluetooth Breakthrough Awards, the SIG’s official technology innovation recognition program. Selected for their insights and understanding of the wireless and consumer electronics markets, the panel will judge finalists in the four Breakthrough categories: Product, Application, Prototype and Student. Bluetooth Breakthrough Award finalist and winners will be featured at media events throughout the winter and spring of 2014 in addition to receiving development and sensor kits from award sponsors CSR, Nordic Semiconductor and Texas Instruments. If you are building a product better with Bluetooth technology, you cannot afford to miss the opportunity to submit for the Bluetooth Breakthrough Awards.
Now in its eighth year, the Bluetooth Breakthrough Awards celebrate the best Bluetooth enabled products and applications available on the market today, and recognize innovative prototypes coming soon. Submissions for the awards are now open and will be accepted through December 7, 2013.
“Bluetooth Smart technology is enabling inventive products that are making the Internet of Things a reality. The products, applications, prototypes, and for the first time this year, student-led projects being submitted are the future of the consumer electronics market. Our judges get to see these products first, and then, have the enviable task of selecting our winners,” said Suke Jawanda, chief marketing officer, Bluetooth SIG. “Our judging panel builds on the success of last year’s program, extending the reach and exposure our winners receive throughout the globe and the wireless industry.”
The Bluetooth Breakthrough Award judges for 2014 include:
- Robert Scoble, Startup Liaison Officer, Rackspace
- Ken Denmead, Editorial Director, Maker Media
- Victoria Woollaston, Science and Technology Reporter, MailOnline
- Joel Kaczmarek, Publisher, Gründerszene
- David Bean, President, Frontline Test Equipment
- Mario Pasquali, President, Ellisys
“Entering the Bluetooth Breakthrough Awards last year, being named finalist, and in the end, being named the overall winner of the program was a huge boost for our product line and our company,” said Kellan O’Conner, co-founder of Tethercell. “The publicity we gained throughout the experience pushed us through our initial round of crowdfunding and introduced us to media and companies we never would have been exposed to otherwise.”
The panel of expert judges will select winners in four categories – Breakthrough Products, Breakthrough Applications, Breakthrough Prototypes, and Breakthrough Students – as well as select an overall award winner, to be announced at Pepcom MobileFocus Global on 23 February 2014, during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
