The BlueNRG-1 system-on-chip (SoC) from ST Microelectronics (ST) is in stock at Mouser Electronics. The BlueNRG-1 contains a Bluetooth low energy radio optimised to satisfy high-volume opportunities in the fast-growing Bluetooth low energy (Bluetooth Smart) market through the combination of superior energy efficiency and strong radio performance.

BlueNRG-1’s ability to transition quickly between power-saving and active modes extends battery life from months to years in low power smart sensors and connected devices like wearables, retail beacons, keyless entry systems, smart remote controllers, asset trackers, and industrial and medical monitors.

The wireless SoC features a 32MHz 32-bit ARM Cortex-M0 core and delivers performance and efficiency for targeted applications.

The SoC also includes 160 kBytes of on-chip flash memory, allowing designers to embed both the Bluetooth Low Energy 4.2 protocol stack and the application code; 24 kBytes of static RAM with retention (in two 12-kByte banks); and SPI, UART, I2C standard communication interface peripherals.

The device benefits from an ultra-low-power design, including support for fast wake-up and sleep transitions, and sub-1µA standby current.

In addition to the device’s link budget up to 96dB, RF-output power is boosted to +8dBm to ensure clear and reliable communication for optimum efficiency, even in noisy environments.

The BlueNRG-1 SoC is compliant with a range of RF regulations, including ETSI EN 300 328, EN 300 440, FCC CFR47 Part 15, and ARIB STD-T66.

Mouser is also offering the STEVAL-IDB007V1 evaluation platform, which includes an onboard BlueNRG-1 SoC. The board also offers an accelerometer, gyroscope, MEMS pressure and temperature sensor, debug connector, and three power options to help engineers develop solutions for a wide range of applications.
