Axiomtek has introduced the NA721, a 1U rackmount network appliance platform built to strengthen IT infrastructure management and network security.

The NA721 is an ideal choice for network security applications such as intrusion detection system (IDS), intrusion prevention system (IPS), next-generation firewall (NGFW), and unified threat management (UTM). With its four 10GbE SFP+ ports and eight GbE RJ-45 ports with a 2-pair LAN bypass function, the NA721 ensures exceptional reliability. Powered by the server-class performance of Intel Xeon D-1700 family processors (code name: Ice Lake D), it also features two expandable LAN module slots that support 1GbE/10GbE /25GbE/40GbE/Fiber/Copper/Bypass interfaces.

“The Intel Xeon D-1700 processor, which provides options from two cores up to ten cores with a large bandwidth, allows the NA721 to deliver outstanding computing performance for network applications. It features six DDR4-2933 non-buffer non-ECC/ECC R-DIMM/U-DIMM slots with a maximum of 384GB memory to further boost the computing capability. To strengthen the reliability, the NA721 features network bypass support to protect essential business communications during power outages or system failures,” said Joyce Wu, a product manager of IIoT Division at Axiomtek. “Moreover, the high-stability network security appliance system features onboard BMC AST2500 or optional Intelligent Platform Management Interface 2.0 (IPMI 2.0) to allow administrators to monitor system health and manage systems remotely. It also has onboard TPM 2.0 to enhance security.”

The NA721 has high-density ports consisting of eight GbE RJ-45 and four 10G SPF+ ports to support high-speed network communication. The flexible LAN modules can meet customers’ various application needs with up to 28 ports. The NA721 offers two internal 2.5" SATA HDD/SSD bays and an M.2 Key B 2242 slot with support for the SATA interface. Its easily accessible I/O connectivity includes one RJ-type console port, two USB 3.0 ports, eight RJ-45 ports, four SFP+ ports, and one optional VGA. In addition, it has LED indicators for power/HDD/GPIO programmable/LAN Bypass/Link/Act with transfer rate and one LCD module with four keypads. Linux operating system is available for the NA721.
