Avalue Introduces High Performance COM Express, ESM-GM45

Avalue’s ESM-GM45 Computer-on-Module supports Intel® Core™ 2 Duo or Celeron® M CPU. The adopted Intel® GM45 features graphics processing technology with GMA 4500, delivering excellent graphics and 3-D rendering performance, plus the ICH9M high-speed chipset drives outstanding system performance and suits many kinds of gaming machines, such as slot machines, video games, or multi-player games. The front-side bus (FSB) up to 1066MHz and two sets of 2GB DDR2 memory controllers, which substantially scale up the processing speed. In sum, the ESM-GM45 features high performance but in a small package of 125 x 95 mm board.

In terms of interfaces the ESM-GM45 offers four SATA, eight USB 2.0 and four PCI, four PCIex1, one PCIex16 expansion bus. Integrated graphics enable the operation of dual monitors and allow dual channel 18/24-bit LVDS for resolutions up to UXGA (1600 x 1200). There is also onboard High-Definition Audio (HDA) support for multimedia applications.

One of the most significant benefits of Computer-on-Module (COM) is the reduction of development time by its modular design. Complied with the function-ready baseboard, the COM is in a state of seamless upgradability and allowed to follow technologies of the time. Avalue product manager of Embedded Platform, Jason Liu, says “We provide the complete service as to our COM/ETX product lines. It includes pre-sales, design, production and after-sales four parts. Customers usually can choose Avalue’s baseboards with the compatible COM daughter boards as package, or only pick sufficient COM boards to equip with their own existing baseboards. Either-or Avalue will guarantee the full supports with developing, designing, producing or consulting, to fulfill the demands of long-life product solutions.”

The ESM-GM45 Computer-on-Module is now available and supports Windows 7, Windows XP, Windows XPe, Windows CE as well as Linux.
