1.8V high-speed DUARTS
DT Electronics has made available Exar's family of dual universal asynchronous receiver transmitters (DUARTS) that operate from a 1.62V to 3.63V supply and feature 16, 32 or 64-byte FIFOs. Designated the M-series, each channel of these devices is capable of data rates up to 16 MBps at 3.3V with a 4X sampling clock.
Chip enables next generation of DAB enabled digital audio products
Frontier Silicon has launched a new advanced and highly integrated system-on-chip IC which will enable the next generation of DAB digital radio-based products. The Chorus 2 FS1020 chip is a new programmable DAB baseband receiver providing significant space, cost and power savings on a typical radio or mobile handheld devices. The chip is now in mass production and products using the chip will appear in the market early 2007.
Microwave Amplifier Range covers 0.5 to 18GHz
Now available from RF and microwave component specialist Link Microtek is a range of microwave amplifiers that are competitively priced but are said to provide the quality and performance required for space, military and commercial communications applications.
Optimized RF Front-End System Solution Reduces Size, Cost of Wi-Fi Systems
SiGe Semiconductor has announced the SE2559L, an RF front-end module designed to improve integration and reduce cost of Wi-Fi systems compliant to the 802.11b/g specification. The new RF front-end is based on a highly integrated architecture that is about 60 percent smaller than competitive products. With high feature integration, the SE2559L eliminates several external components, allowing manufacturers to reduce the bill of materials cost for 8...
Radiation Hardened Device for Use in Ultrahigh-Speed Bidirectional Point-to-Point Data Transmission Systems
Texas Instruments has announced the TLK2711HFGQMLV 1.6 to 2.7 Gigabits per Second Serializer/Deserializer. A member of the WizardLink family of multigigabit transceivers, the device is qualified to MIL-PRF-38535 (QML) Class V and is designed to support serial interface in high speed data bus applications for aerospace equipment, such as satellites.
Digital AM/FM radio receiver chipset for use in automotive applications
STMicroelectronics has announced that it is sampling a new digital AM/FM radio receiver chipset for use in automotive applications. Sophisticated digital signal processing techniques allow the chipset to feature excellent reception quality while reducing interference even in presence of challenging signal conditions such as weak field and strong multipath (reflection from mountains and buildings).
Fully Integrated Single-Chip Phone for the GSM ultra low cost handset market
Silicon Laboratories has announced the Si4901 AeroFONE single-chip phone, the industry’s most integrated, highest performing single-chip phone for the GSM ultra low cost handset (ULCH) market. The Si4901 expands the company’s family of single-chip phones to address demand for low cost, highly integrated GSM handsets in emerging economies.
Gyroscope enhances GPS performance
Melexis has entered the market for accurate GPS position sensing with its angular rate sensor or gyroscope. The MLX90609-N2 will enhance the accuracy of GPS instruments in situations where satellite reception is lost, for example in tunnels, between tall buildings and mountainous terrain.
Digital audio delay provides cost-effective synchronization of audio and video in a single integrated package
Texas Instruments has introduced the TPA5050 digital audio delay with IIC control. Designed for high definition and flat panel TV applications, the TPA5050 digital audio delay provides cost-effective synchronization of audio and video in a single integrated package that conserves board space and simplifies channel configuration.
Highly integrated, IEEE 802.3af compliant, Power over Ethernet controller
Silicon Laboratories has announced what is said to be the industry’s most highly integrated, IEEE 802.3af compliant, Power over Ethernet controller for powered device applications. The Si3400 is the only PD controller to integrate on-chip diode bridges, a transient surge suppressor and a switching regulator field effect transistor. The Si3400 controller’s unprecedented level of integration simplifies PoE design efforts by reducing the tota...
