ON Semiconductor has further expanded its family of Digitally Programmable Potentiometer (DPP) ICs with new high-resolution devices incorporating I2C and Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) Bus connectivity. The new DPPs offer a low-noise, reliable and space-saving alternative to mechanical potentiometers in applications ranging from instrumentation and industrial automation to portable battery-powered equipment.

Industrial networking specialists Amplicon have partnered with SIM card provider Vianet to provide an end to end service for evaluating and developing 3G, HSDPA and HSUPA communication systems. The company has invested in demo stock of a wide range of GPRS & 3G routers and now provides a free evaluation service to customers with qualified projects.

ATC Semitec has introduced a range of pipe-mounting disc thermostats to ensure better control of hot and cold water systems. The SJW6 series can be used on pipes from 10mm-16mm diameter using integral tight-fitting stainless steel clips. The thermostat also has a curved base to improve the contact area with the pipe thus maximising its thermal response.

SMSC today launched the LAN89218, its first TrueAuto high-performance single-chip 10/100 Ethernet controller. This device is designed specifically to meet the high reliability standards required by automotive applications such as on-board diagnostics or fast software download interfaces for central gateway and telematics modules, navigation systems, radio head units and connectivity devices.

Maxim has introducesd the MAX2169, a multimode silicon tuner for mobile TV. This device receives signals in the FM, VHF-III, UHF, and L-band spectrums, making it ideal for multimode applications that need to receive mobile TV and audio broadcasts.

Avago has announced the addition of an environmentally ‘green’ PCS FBAR Band Duplexer to its series of miniature duplexers. The ACMD-7409 duplexer, which was designed using Avago’s own FBAR technology, targets designers of PCS handsets, and data terminals operating in the U.S. PCS frequency band.

PerkinElmer has announced the newest members of the DigiPyro Family of pyroelectric detectors, designed for safety and security applications. The two new dual-element models include the Smart DigiPyro PYD 1096 and the Miniature DigiPyro PYD 5731.

Exar’s wireless UART chipset is now available from Nu Horizons. The chipset comprises a low-power single-chip transceiver, the XR18W753, and a wireless UART controller, the XR18W750, connected via an I2C bus master interface.
