6WIND Launches Version 3 of its Packet Processing Software Solution
6WIND, a leading provider of commercial packet processing solutions, today announced the release of the latest and most powerful version of its 6WINDGate™ software for multicore processors. 6WINDGate Version 3 enables developers of next-generation networking equipment to minimize the time-to-market for multicore platforms, while maximizing the features and stability of their product and leveraging the latest processors from industry-leading suppliers.
DeplThe 6WINDGate 3 release delivers key benefits for next-generation networking applications such as advanced security equipment, LTE/WiMAX infrastructure and cloud computing. Features such as support for 64-bit processing, virtualization and multi-queuing enable developers to achieve the maximum system performance while providing the advanced services required for secure, all-IP networks.
6WINDGate 3 provides full support for the latest Linux kernels. While new clients benefit immediately from the additional features and enhanced stability of the latest kernels, these advantages are also available to existing users of 6WINDGate 2.x software as soon as they upgrade to version 3, because all applications developed for 2.x will work on version 3.
6WIND works closely with the leading suppliers of multicore processors, ensuring that the 6WINDGate software is fully optimized to best exploit new features in their architectures. 6WINDGate 3 includes full support for the latest multicore processors from Cavium Networks, Freescale Semiconductor, Intel Corp. and NetLogic Microsystems, Inc. OEMs can select the latest processors from these families with confidence that the performance capabilities of the processor will be balanced by optimized support in 6WINDGate.
“6WINDGate 3 accelerates our clients’ software development cycle by more than six months, while allowing them to leverage the latest Linux features and select the most recent multicore processors.” said Eric Carmes, CEO of 6WIND. “This provides an ideal solution for optimizing the cost-performance, integration and power consumption of next-generation networking, security and telecom equipment.”
