Whitepaper on Stingray 7 connectors released
PEI-GENESIS has released a whitepaper on the Stingray 7 series connectors designed by Amphenol.
The whitepaper introduces magnetic technology designed to revolutionise communication in challenging environments, as well as showcase the features of the Stingray 7 series.
'Crucial connectors: Stingray 7 connectors empower body-worn applications' delves into the unique design features and benefits of the connectors, offering insights into their application in different industries such as defence, public safety, and firefighting.
The Stingray series 7 connectors feature a compact, low-profile design with rugged metal shells, making them suitable for use in environments where exposure to moisture, dust, dirt, and chemicals is common. These connectors are designed to withstand extreme conditions encountered by first responders and soldiers, providing uninterrupted connectivity.
The key feature outlined in the guide is the innovative magnetic technology, which allows connectors to quickly disconnect, facilitating the connection between non-tethered equipment, such as helmet to torso, protecting users from potential injury due to cable snagging.
“In challenging environments, seamless communication is critical,” said Sean Fitall, Senior Product Manager, PEI-Genesis. “This whitepaper showcases the advanced features of the Stingray 7 connectors and underscores our commitment to providing cutting-edge solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers across various industries."
The Stingray 7 connectors also feature a non-keyed coupling system that has no moving parts, meaning that connectors can be easily mated without the need for pre-alignment, eliminating the need to operate any mechanical coupling mechanisms. Quick disconnect is facilitated in all angles of separation, enabling rapid equipment disengagement during dynamic combat scenarios.
The connectors provide over 10,000 mating cycles without loss of reliability of signal or power. This high volume of mating cycles helps to increase the life span of connectors before replacement.
Readers of the whitepaper can also discover case studies where the connectors have been successfully deployed, including a rescue mission in a dense forest where a team of first responders relied on the Stingray 7 connectors to remain connected and coordinate effectively.
