Tyco Electronics introduces 40 Gb/s active optical cable assemblies
Tyco Electronics has announced the introduction of its new 40 Gb/s Quad Data Rate (QDR) speed PARALIGHT cable assemblies in a Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable (QSFP) connector format. This new cable assembly can run up to 100 meters, although longer lengths may be possible and are being evaluated.
“ATyco Electronics has already demonstrated market viability with volume deployment of Double Data Rate (DDR) 20Gb/s speed QSFP and CX4 optical assemblies. Tyco Electronics was one of the first to have DDR assemblies approved by the InfiniBand Trade Association (IBTA) to run at 100 meters.
“Tyco Electronics is committed to maintaining a position of industry leadership with the introduction of the 40 Gb/s QSFP PARALIGHT optical cable assemblies,” adds Hess. “We believe we are the first to introduce assemblies that are both cost effective and available in volume.”
