Sagard engaged in exclusive discussions with Esterline Technologies Corp for the acquisition of the Souriau Group
Souriau is one of the leaders in the business of harsh environment connectors for the aerospace, defense and industrial markets.
SourThis acquisition, which would make of Souriau a new platform within Esterline’s Sensors & Systems segment, would give Souriau increased financial strength to participate in the consolidation of the connectors industry and accelerate its growth. It would also improve Souriau’s ability to address US customers in the aerospace and defense markets. The current management team of Souriau would remain in charge of this new platform, which would keep its current structure and industrial locations.
Frédéric Stolar, Partner at Sagard, is enthusiastic about the contemplated transaction: “Souriau has experienced an exceptional industrial journey and is typical of the type of company with which we like to associate. Enjoying a portfolio of high quality customers, supported by one of the most innovative Research & Development and strong industrial investments, the company has achieved an exceptional growth both of its sales and profit, despite the major global downturn in the economy. The support of an industrial group should help accelerating the international development of Souriau and allow the company to become a global leader which cannot be overlooked.”
François Calvarin, CEO of Souriau said : “the know‐how Esterline has developed in the aerospace and defense markets complements ours nicely, and will allow the Souriau Group to export French technologies and address new customers, especially in the United States. Over the past 5 years, Souriau took advantageof the support of Sagard and its business network to strongly grow. With my team, we started a few months ago the search for an industrial partner to support our development strategy, and in particular to strengthen our presence in the United States and to give us further access to the global markets. The support of this new parent would guarantee the future of the company and represent a new challenge on the international market.”
For Brad Lawrence, Esterline CEO, “we were very impressed by the industrial expertise of Souriau, by its technologies and by its management team. The Souriau know‐how and its culture are close to ours. Leveraging the management team of Souriau we are confident that we can give the company new resources that will enhance its ability to become global.”nly for the aerospace and defense markets.
