HARTING to feature interconnection products qualified to IRIS rail industry standard at RAILTEX 2009
At RAILTEX 2009, HARTING is featuring its extensive range of interconnection solutions for rail applications, including products covered by IRIS (International Railway Industry Standard) approval.
HARTING's parent company, based in Espelkamp, Germany, was the first organisation in the world to receive this certificate, and now the UK operation has been awarded the IRIS quality certificate. In addition to the HARTING connector range, the approval covers the design and manufacture of cables, backplanes and backplane systems manufactured by HARTING Integrated Solutions at the company's Northampton site (IRIS Scope 12 and IRIS Scope 11).
IRISThe HARTING Technology Group offers a wide range of connectivity solutions for the rail industry, backed by many years of experience dealing with transportation manufacturers worldwide. Products include rugged Ethernet switches for connecting passenger information systems, CCTV and security devices; D-Subminiature hoods with integrated electronics for industry standard bus protocols; and rugged RJ45 Industrial Ethernet IP 20 and IP 67 connectivity for on-train communications or networking of trackside equipment.
Also available are modular power connectors rated at up to 650 A at 4000 V for power traction supply in EMC screened and IP68 rated housings; modular connectors for integrating power, signal and communication connections for in-carriage connectivity; M12 crimp connectors for interfacing between Ethernet networks and subsystems; and inter-car jumpers for providing rugged, secure screened connections between vehicles. In addition, the backplanes produced by HARTING Integrated Solutions are now being used in safety-critical signalling systems for the rail industry.
