Offshore cables can handle both signals & energy
HUBER+SUHNER has announced additions to its family of RADOX MFH-S cables which are designed specifically for installation on ships and oil and gas platforms. According to HUBER+SUHNER, the cables are thinner, lighter, more robust and flexible than competitive products and are also capable of transmitting both signals and energy. This means they can be used for a variety of applications from data transmission in control systems to cabinets and energy transmission in lighting systems or ships' diesel engines.
RADOX MFH-S cables feature cross-sections of up to 6mm² and a total of 70 available versions increase the number of applications suited to their unique properties. They are approved for use in temperatures from -50 to +90°C, although they have also proven to function correctly for 20,000 hours in temperatures of up to 120°C.
They feature high abrasion and vibration resistance as well as a very small bending radius. Using its own testing facilities, HUBER+SUHNER has been able to prove the flexibility and resistance of the cables during more than one million bending cycles, which makes MFH-S cables suitable for moving applications such as cranes or drilling rigs.
MFH-S cables are also particularly resistant to mud, diesel, oil, ozone, hydrolysis and the effects of the weather, attributes which are essential for use in harsh offshore environmental conditions. They are Halogen-Free and Flame retardant.
