The ST12 Push-Push microSD card connector from JAE is a new addition to the Rutronik portfolio.

This series makes its inspection and repair simpler through the use of external SMT leads, which are visible and easily accessible. Also, the mechanical locking structure with "stopper" and "lock" components prevents dislodgement of cards due to vibration or physical shock, and the multiple hold-downs ensure secure retention of the connector to the PCB – and thus stable data transmission – even under harsh conditions.

The components also impress with their ease of use and have a switch for detecting card insertion. They are suitable for a wide range of applications, including smartphones, drones, action cameras, and other small portable electronic devices and are available at Rutronik.

The slot has a push-push connector for microSDTM cards. These are compatible with UHS-I, feature ten contacts with an initial contact resistance of up to 100mΩ and are 1.4 x 14.6 x 15.3mm in size. They have a dielectric strength of 500Vr.m.s. for up to one minute and an initial insulation resistance of at least 1,000MΩ.

The ST12 series enables up to 10,000 mating cycles, as well as operating temperatures of –25 °C to +85 °C. The area of the soldering terminals is located on the outside of the connector housing to enable easy inspection and repair.

Benefits at a glance:

  • Push-push connector for UHS-I compatible microSD cards
  • Compact format: 1.4 x 14.6 x 15.3mm (depth including card 16.7mm)
  • Good usability with 0.7mm push stroke and 3.8mm card eject length
  • Includes switch to detect card insertion (normally open)
  • Strong mechanical locking structure to retain card during use

Application examples:

Small, portable, electronic devices, such as

  • Smartphones
  • Tablet PCs
  • Drones
  • Action cams
  • Gaming terminals
  • Notebook PCs
  • AR/VR headsets
