TTI, Inc has announced a joint initiative with connector giant, FCI which is designed to help customers select and obtain flex connectors as simply and quickly as possible. Explains FCI’s Bavo Teunissen, Global Marketing Communications Director: “It can be very difficult for engineers to fight through industry websites searching for the correct acronym. To simplify matters, at FCI we have created a number of microsites. In this example, we have grouped all our flex products together in one microsite with an easy navigation system that leads you to the product of your choice”
He continues: “While we have built the microsite and search engine, TTI is extremely good at reaching out, especially to a large customer base. We ran a program like this with TTI on our Minitek product range which was very successful, and we expect the FPC/FFC initiative to be even better.”

John Sandy, TTI’s European Director, Supplier Marketing Connectors added: “If a designer is looking to interface from an LCD to a PCB, he knows he’ll need a flex connector. We are hosting FCI’s flex microsite live on our website, www.ttieurope.com, and investing in a very broad and deep stocking inventory of parts so that once a customer has selected the required part, we can deliver immediately. Also available are sample kits to help speed the evaluation and prototyping phase.”

FCI is one of the leading developers and manufacturers of flex connectors, with products varying from the traditional 2.54mm pitch to 0.3mm pitch. FCI pioneered innovative features such as back side flip actuation, allowing the cable to be locked into place with one hand, as well as ZIF with pre-hold, which provides enough retention to hold the cable in place while the lock is actuated. The connectors are ideal for a variety of applications, particularly in connecting an LCD screen to the PCB, such as cell phones, handheld electronic games, car navigation systems, medical equipment, industrial equipment, ATMs and POS vending machines.
