Industrial connectivity boosted with high-temp connectors
At Drives & Controls 2014, HARTING will be introducing families of high-temperature connectors and devices with high mating cycles, plus interconnectivity products for smart network infrastructures and smart power systems within the industrial environment.
The Han(R) HighTemp Series is a major development from HARTING, providing eliable transmission of signals and power at temperatures up to 200°C in industrial environments. Based on Harting's Han(R) B and Han(R) E series, the HighTemp Series has had additional temperature-resistant materials and heat-resistant design applied to all components. These components include contacts, insulating materials, housing, seals and grounding elements. The connectors remove the need to enclose machine parts, which are exposed to high temperatures, and clear the way to modular plug-in designs. This lowers wiring complexity and therefore reduces maintenance costs, outages and minimal down times.
Further to the Han(R) HighTemp Series, HARTING will also be showcasing he Han(R) HMC industrial connector series, which combines the capability for more than 10,000 mating cycles with protection against harsh environmental conditions. The series has been designed for use in applications where equipment may be employed in different locations and can often be connected and disconnected several times a day. Based on the tried and tested Han(R) industrial connectors, an additional benefit of the HMC connectors is that all existing processing tools can also be used for the Han(R) HMC. The complete Han(R) HMC series consists of Han(R) B HMC housings, Han(R) HMC connector inserts with crimp connection in four different versions, Han(R) HMC crimp contacts in two sizes, a range of Han-Modular(R) modules together with the Han(R) HMC crimp contacts, and two different docking frames. Promising flawless function, the connector inserts contain high-performance grounding contacts, while the crimp contacts are equipped with a special HMC gold surface and constant spring force.
HARTING will also be showcasing smart networking infrastructure products, including the Ha-VIS mCon 3000 range of Ethernet switches. The switches enable the construction of complex and efficient network structures, and are optimised for use in harsh industrial environments. Thanks to the integration of the PROFINET I/O device stack, the switches can be deployed and incorporated seamlessly into existing and newly planned PROFINET applications.
