HUBER+SUHNER (UK), an industry leader in the design, manufacture and testing of high quality RF cable assemblies, has made a significant addition to its semi-rigid RF cable production capability with the installation of a fully automatic custom cable forming machine at its Bicester facility.
The new machine means HUBER+SUHNER (UK) customers now have fast access to high precision semi-rigid RF coaxial cable assemblies which are not only lower in cost than traditional “hand-formed” assemblies, but are also more accurate with tolerances that are exactly repeatable whether in quantities of ones, tens or thousands.

The new SOCO Ultrabend system is a fully automatic three programmable axis machine designed to form the most popular sizes of semi-rigid RF coaxial cable including RG402, RG405 and RG250.

In use, the system ensures +/- 0.15º bending precision and repeatability, a level unattainable by hand forming. Programming is fast, so the system can be used for one-off assemblies and prototypes allowing customers the chance to evaluate a new assembly in the knowledge that production quantities will be identical.

Commenting on the new system, HUBER+SUHNER’s UK Applications Engineering Manager John Woodruff says “We are recognized as a leading specialist in RF Cable Assemblies, not simply because we make all the component parts needed, but mainly because we are experienced in working with customers on the design of their assemblies, manufacturing the assembly itself and then testing the finished item.”

“The new machine allows us to speed up the manufacturing cycle and reduce the cost, as well as ensuring that every finished assembly performs exactly to our customers specifications.” Adds Woodruff.
