Hirose has expanded its SignalBee connector platform to include an even smaller wire-to-board version. With a height of just 1.45mm and a depth of 3.55mm, the new DF53 Series connector is the smallest 0.6mm crimp connector currently available on the market.
This ultra-compact connector is designed to support high-density applications where space is limited, making it particularly well-suited for wearables and other compact electronic devices.
Despite its small size, the DF53 Series connector is capable of handling up to 1.3A max when utilising two positions for power. This makes it ideal for delivering power to wearable battery connections, where both space efficiency and reliable power transmission are critical. As consumer and industrial electronics continue to shrink in size, the demand for smaller, high-performance connectors like the DF53 Series continues to grow.
The DF53 Series features a unique lance design that enhances reliability by providing high lance strength. This helps to prevent accidental cable disconnection during wiring, ensuring a secure connection even in environments where movement and handling are frequent. The connector also incorporates a double lock design, utilising both friction and contact retention to ensure a high retention force. This added security prevents unintentional disengagement, a key consideration for applications where stability is essential.
Further improving reliability, the DF53 Series employs a box-shaped contact design that maintains contact stability from both above and below. This design enhances signal integrity and durability, making it less susceptible to deformation during handling. The box-shaped contact on the cable side further strengthens the connector against damage, ensuring long-term performance in demanding applications.
Available in a 14-position version, the DF53 Series single-row crimp connector also allows users to verify mating conditions, adding an extra layer of assurance during assembly. This feature is particularly beneficial for manufacturers who require precise and consistent connectivity in high-volume production.
