High-Density cable management system from Tyco
The AMP NETCONNECT Business Unit of Tyco Electronics has developed the Hi-D cable management system for data centres. This new system can increase patch densities by, on average, 30% with improved cable management and access compared to traditional techniques.
As dThe current design restriction for port capacity on a 42-unit cabinet is 480 ports, while providing a minimum cable management provision of one per third cabinet unit. The Hi-D cable management system can increase capacity by up to 1020 ports per frame.
The Hi-D cable management system is designed in such a way that all patch-cable bend radii are controlled from ports on the angled patch panel through the complete management system. This ensures that the stipulated requirements of ISO/IEC 11801 - that the bend radius should be a minimum of 25 mm for cables with a diameter of less than 6 mm and 50 mm for those over 6 mm - are met.
The heart of this innovative system is the recessed angled 19-inch patch panel and Hi-D corner bracket that guides the patch cords from the front of the panel into the 6- or 12-inch side ducts in a controlled way eliminating the need for horizontal cable management bars. By using this concept, Tyco Electronics maintains the quality of the link while increasing the patch-cable density. The industry standard angled 19-inch panels are designed to accommodate the AMP NETCONNECT SL series connectors, providing the choice for UTP, FTP and STP systems to support data rates of up to 10 Gbit/s.
