ERNI's MiniBridge now meets Koshiri Security requirements
ERNI has expanded its popular 1.27mm pitch MiniBridge cable connector family with the introduction of a robust version that is increasing in popularity in automotive LED/lighting applications. The single row MiniBridge Koshiri connectors offer significantly higher mating integrity and protection from improper skew insertion.
Due to its compact design, the scalable connector system is suited for space saving connections between PCBs and decentralised function units, particularly important in the automotive market. Several connection options can be achieved using the straight and angled male and female connectors with 90 and 180° cable outlet.
“The automotive industry has high demands on process reliability for connectors. For example, during a skewed connection process of the male and female parts, it is imperative the male connectors are not damaged. The new MiniBridge Koshiri connectors fulfill these needs for a reliable mating,” said Sam Hines, Product Coordinator, ERNI Electronics.
Depending on the application requirements, latching options are either passive (interference fit with soft latch) or active (positive latching). For ease of integration, the active latch is colour-coded red in order to show that the cable system is positive latching. Standard offerings include either a black or black/red (active) housing.
A new white version is also available for LED lighting applications that want to avoid shadowing effects that can be caused by the connector system. The new MiniBridge variants with Koshiri security are available with 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 pins and have a high current carrying capacity extending up to 8 amps per contact depending on the cable plant employed.
The male connectors feature SMT termination, while the female parts offer IDC terminations, accepting either ribbon or discrete wire cable. AWG 22 single wire stranded cables can also be used. ERNI companies globally offer full turn-key services for custom cable requirements.
